![]() I like to spend the first few days hanging around a system with a pirate bounty and scavenging/supporting fleets on an opportunistic basis. Trade contracts and moving cargo can also be great as long as you are willing to invest in a couple good freighters to up your cargo capacity, typically mules and buffalo can suffice early to mid game (I prefer the former for their greatly increased survivability in nearly every situation), and its usually a good idea to hold onto some credits in case a market starts to flounder and you get the opportunity to sell them goods at a profitĪlso if you are planning on playing it safe and going the "explore and salvage" route early on, the industry skill tab is great for increasing your rare item drops from abandoned structures and derelicts which is best taken sooner rather than later, and giving you a better chance at salvaging enemy ships you destroy while increasing their immediate quality once you get them, as well as making dmods a lot more easy to live with. The further you progress the more valuable and somewhat scarce supplies and fuel are going to be, I recommend shepherds over construction rigs for the sole fact that they can actually defend themselves in a fight and also have salvaging equipment, that being said they shouldn't be used as combat ships by any means unless in small engagements.Įxploration contracts are great when you just start out, and scale well money wise as you get further along progression, and can get you little well appreciated bumps in karma for the faction they are tied too as well Once you got a fleet of a few destroyers and cruisers and 1 or 2 mil in the bank, you can get yourself a colony or two, but I would worry about that when you get there. Keep all the weapons and store them there so you got a good stash to outfit new ships with. Don't get one big battle cruiser on it's own, it will slow you down, increase your supply and fuel cost and will still fail against a fleet of smaller ships without support.Īlso, there are a few abandoned stations in the system, you can use them to store unlimited items and ships. Upgrade your fleet one or two ships at a time and try progressing by ship types. If you make some cash, don't burn it all at once. Make sure your fleet travels fast (burn 9 across the board is a good number to aim for) so you can run away from enemy fleets. Their mining drones do a decent job against early shitty pirate ships, they add some cargo and they decrease the cost of surveying planets. Early game I also like to add a couple shepherd ships to my fleet. Get one or two Buffalo cargo transports and a fuel tanker to increase your range and the amount of salvage you can carry around. Some are for planets and require more crew, so it's easier to take those for stations and derelict ships. Deliveries can be found in bars and always take your current cargo capacity into account. Try to go slow, get some money with non-combat missions like deliveries and survey missions. I learned a lot from watching the unmodded playthrough of Nemonaemo, you can find him on YouTube. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up. Tempest frigates are the best ships in the game. Unless you want them to rob you with pristine, shiny ships and weapons made from said blueprints. Do NOT sell blueprints on the black market. This gives you a very good, steady income, but will naturally decrease your rep with other factions because they tend to declare war with the entire sector as soon as you join. General tips: Lick a faction's boots, get your reputation up, and sign up with them as an officer. On the plus side, there are usually habitable planets in these systems, so you can put your colonies here if you can. Try not to go near black holes and neutron stars before you learn the transverse jump ability. Same goes with other explorable locations Mining stations, orbital habitats, weapon/supply caches, etc. Look around planets, and sometimes they're even in the star's Corona. If you find a domain era probe/survey ship, there are usually more in that same system. These contain extremely valuable blueprints and items and are important for late game. Neutron stars/black holes usually have a research station near or in them. Make sure you have enough supplies and fuel. Invest that money into a colony or two, and never work another day in your life.Ī few tips for exploration: -The further the mission objective is, the more money is offered. ![]() ![]() I usually start by doing exploration missions, build up a decent fleet with the money, then do bounties/random deep space exploration and accumulate a fortune.
